About Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi is an American band based on hard rock music. It was formed in 1983 in the city of Sayrville, New Jersey and has been named after the lead singer, Jon Bon Jovi. His real name is Jon Francis Bongiovi Jr. Other members of the group include High McDonald as the bassist, David Bryan as the keyboardist, Richie Sambora as the guitarist and Tico Torres as the drummer. Unlike many other surviving bands of the time, the line-up for bon Jovi has remained static except for the departure of Alec John Such and his replacement by Hugh McDonald in 1994.

Bon Jovi has been known primarily for its rock anthems but it was not before the release of their third album that the band achieved ultimate success. This album was released in 1986. The 1980s became a busy decade for the band during which it recorded and toured non-stop. The last tour of the decade, New Jersey Tour, was followed by a hiatus from 1990 to 1991. During this time, Richie Sambora and Bon Jovi released their solo albums and both remained highly successful. In 1992, the album Keep the Faith reunited the band. This was the fifth album and reached number 5 on Billboard 200. Also, it reached 3x platinum in Australia and Japan and reached 5x platinum in Canada. The sixth album, These Days also brought unstoppable success to the band and topped charts. After its tour, another hiatus began in 1997 that lasted in 1999.

After this hiatus, the band released a single, It's My Life that made it immensely amongst the youngsters. Four albums succeeded the one that had 'It's My Life' an enjoyed high acclaim and award nominations. The band has, since then, toured extensively and is containing to do so.
