About Keane
Formed in East Sussex, England, Keane is an English band that does alternative. The four piece band comprises of Richard Hughes, Time Rice-Oxley, Jesse Quin and Tom Chaplin. Where Rice-Oxley is the pianist and the backing vocalist and Hughes is the drummer and percussionist, Quin is the percussionist and bass guitarist and Chaplin is the lead vocalist and guitarist. The band was formed in 1997 and its original line-up also comprised the member, Dominic Scott who was amongst the founding members. He left the band in 2001. In 2004, the band released its debut album, Hopes and Fears which remained the second highest selling album for the same year, received numerous awards and earned Keane, mainstream success.
The second studio album released by Keane, which was titled Under The Iron Sea also remained immensely successful continuing the success of the band. It topped charts around the UK and managed a position of Number 4 in Billboard 200. In 2008, the band released its third album titled, Perfect Symmetry and the same year, readers of Q magazine voted their first album, Hopes and Fears at Number 13 and Under The Iron Sea at Number 8, taking Keane alongside The Beatles, Radiohead and Oasis for having two albums in Top 20. In the May of 2010,s Keana's s fourth album, Night Train reached Number 1 in the UK Chart, managing a position of Number 25 in Billboard 200 US Chart.
As of June 2011, the band has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to date and received numerous awards. The band is enjoying a great deal of success and popularity.
