Girls Aloud

Formed in 2002, Girls Aloud is a British/Irish musical band that was created through a talent show titled, Popstars: The Rivals. The band comprises of the world renowned Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts. Girls Aloud released their first single that was released in 2002, spent four weeks at Number 1 and has been accredited with the recognition of having reshaped British pop music for the decade of 2000s. Girls Aloud have 20 singles to their record that have been rated amongst the Top 10 while 4 of these have remained at Number 1. All the albums produced by this girl band have been certified with platinum while two of these, Out of Control and The Sound of Girls Aloud have sold more than one million copies. 2009, the band won the BRIT Award for their single, The Promise.

Much credit for the success of the band has been given to the producer Brian Higgins whose production team and songwriting capabilities have earned Girls Aloud critical acclaim. In 2007 and 2011, Guinness World Records rated the band as the 'Most Successful Reality TV Group'. In 2008, they were accredited for being a UK female group to have given the highest number of Top 10 entries.

Since 2009, Girls Aloud has not been seen as a band but all its members have been busy in their other projects and have remained active. According to an interview of Nicola Roberts, all the girls are up for ending the hiatus and reuniting in 2012 to celebrate the 0 years of the band's success.
