About Green Day
Green Day is an American musical band that is recognized for its punk rock music. Formed in 1987, Green Day is a trio that comprises of Tre Cool who is the drummer, Billie Joe Armstrong who is the guitarist as well as the vocalist and Mike Dirnt who is the backing vocalist and the bassist of the band. Tre Cool joined the band in 1990 before Green Day could begin recording its second album, Kerplunk replacing the former drummer, John Kiffmeyer. Having started as part of the non-profit 924 Gilman Street, the band recorded its initial works with Lookout! Records that gained it a large fan base.
However, it was not until 1994 that Green Day released its third album that earned it a worldwide success. This album, titled Dookie sold 10 million copies in the US alone. Alongside a few other bands, Green Day has been accredited to be the pioneer of punk rock music. Following albums from the band did not receive as much popularity and success as Dookie but managed to gain gold and platinum certifications. Green Day’s album, American Idiot that was released in 2004 revived the cereer of the band by popularizing it amongst the younger generation. In 2009Green Day released its eight studio album, titled 21st Century Breakdown.
Once again, Green Day is back and working with same energy, enjoying worldwide fame. The band has won five Grammy Awards and has been nominated for several others. Green Day is also holding successful concerts and are entertaining thousands of fans with their live stage performances.
