About Elbow
Elbow is a band from Britain that plays alternative rock music. It has been playing together since 1990 and up till 2011, has recorded five studio albums. The band has been quite successful with all of it albums having been enlisted amongst the top twenty and having produced seven singles which made their place amongst the top forty. Elbow's 2008 album, The Seldom Seen Kid won the band a Mercury Music Prize. Elbow comprises of five members where Richard Jupp is its drummer, Guy Garvey is its lead vocalist, lyricist and guitarist and also handles repercussion, Craig Potter is its keyboardist, organist and backing vocalist, Mark Potter is its backing vocalist and guitarist and Pete Turner is its bassist, keyboardist and backing vocalist.
In the beginning of their career in 1990, the band played in various pubs and clubs but then got to show up in a show by BBC. After a series of name changes, the year 1997 brought the name to band that it is known today with, Elbow. By 1997, the band had released a number of EPs that gave them a large airplay through BBC. The debut album of Elbow, Asleep in the Back was released in 2001 and gained the band immense popularity as well as nominations in BRIT Awards and Mercury Music Prize.
Since then, the band has toured extensively, holding successful concerts and entertaining large audiences. They have collected one BRIT Award, a South Bank Show Pop Award, the Mercury Music Prize, an Ivor Novello Award and an NME Award along with the ‘Song of the Year 2009' title from Mojo Magazine.
