Dido is an English singer and a song writer. Her full name is Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong. Dido first began recoding in 1995 and released her compilation album, Odds & Ends that introduced Dido to production houses in the United States. In 1999, she released her debut album titled, No Angel. The same year, the production company got sold to another company and thus delayed the release of the album in UK. However, making use of the delay, Dido headed to tour around USA with Sarah McLachlan and introduced her music to American audiences. Singles from this album gave her little more exposure while its theme music featured a TV show.
Even though Dido's first album provided her with enough exposure, it was not until 2000 that Eminem sampled a part of her single, Thankyou in his single, Stan that reached Number 1 at the UK Singles Chart. Thankyou had been featured in the movie, Sliding Doors back in 1998. Since this take of Eminem, there was no looking back and Dido had seen worldwide fame and popularity. The album, before its release, topped charts in the UK. She then went on to release other albums which include Life for Rent in 2003, Live 8 in 2005 and Safe Trip Home in 2008.
All the albums remained great hits and spawned topping singles. In 2009, she began recording her fourth album and by September 2010, released a few songs from the entitled album. She has worked extensive with a number of world renowned music composers and has won innumerable awards, prizes and titles including 5 BRIT Awards and 2 Grammy Awards.
