About Black Eyed Peas

Black Eyed Peas is a musical band whose genre of focus has been hip hop. It formed in Los Angeles, California in the year 1995. However, it could not gain limelight and popularity until the release of its third album that was released in 2003. The band comprises the world renowned rapper and singer, Fergie, rappers Taboo and apl.de.ap and the multi-instrumentalist, will.i.am. The complete names of will.i.am, Taboo and apl.de.ap are William Adams, Allan Pineda and Jamie Gomez respectively.

The journey began when willi.i.am and apl.de.ap began rapping while in eighth grade and later in 1988, formed a band with friend, Dante Santiago. This band was named A Tribute Beyond a Nation (ATBAN). Atban Klann could make only one album that never got released as the owner of the recording company passed away. In 1995, the name of the group was changed to Black Eyed Pods and since Dante Santiago had left the group, the line-up changed. The name was also changed to Black Eyed Peas. With members, Kim Hill and Taboo, will.i.am and aple.de.ap released the first album of Black Eyed Peas in 1998. It was named Behind the Front and received wide critical acclaim. The second album, Bridging the Gap that came out in 2000 had just one hit. In 2002, Fergie joined the band and in 2003, the third album, Elephunk came out. This album sold around 56 million copies and record breaking downloads.

Today, Black Eyed Peas have five albums to their record, numerous house full concerts, a number of prestigious awards and a worldwide critical acclaim.
