Matchbox Twenty is a rock band from America that formed in 1995 in the city of Orlando, Florida. It was originally spelled as Matchbox 20 and often stylized as MB20. With Adam Gaynor having left the band after its first hiatus of 2004, the band's current line-up comprises of Brian Yale, Paul Doucette, Kyle Cook, Ryan McMillan and Rob Thomas. Yale is the bass guitarist, Doucette is the rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist, Cook is the lead guitarist and backing vocalist, McMillan is the drummer and percussionist and Thomas is pianist and lead vocalist. The band released its debut album, Yourself Or Someone Like You in 1996 and rose to fame. It received multi-platinum certifications in New Zealand, Australia and Canada and diamond certification in the United States. Right there, international fame became obvious for the band.

Matchbox Twenty released sits second album, Mad Season in 2000 which received 4x platinum certifications in the States and also reached amongst Top 3 on the Billboard 200 and its third album, More Than You Think Your Are, which was released in 2002, was double platinum certified. Its singles got airplay at large but it did not remain as successful as the preceding albums. The band went on a hiatus in 2004 after which they released an album, Exile On Mainstream in 2007 and it received gold certification. In 2011, the band reunited after a second hiatus and as of June 2011, it is currently recording its fourth album.

Matchbox Twenty has done much touring and has a large global fan base. It has received numerous award nominations including those of Grammys and has also won a few. The band continues to strive and achieve what the talents of its members have the capability to.
