About George Benson

George Benson is one of the most renowned musicians in America. He started his music career when he was twenty one years old. He began as a jazz guitarist and today, has the honor of winning multi-Grammy Awards. Benson started getting the popularity during 1960s when he played soul jazz. He then started his singing career as a solo singer by mixing scat singing, R&B, pop and jazz. In 1976, Benson was ranked as number 1 in the Billboard 200. He got this rank after the release of his album, Breezin. This album was certified with platinum three times.

He was among the most popular singer during 1980s. Benson made tours to various countries of the world such as New Zealand, South Africa, America and Australia. Here he promoted his album, Givin' It Up that was released in 2006. All throughout 2006, he gave performances at Terengganu in the second Monsoon Cup. In addition, he performed at 50th Merdeka celebration of Malaysia. During the year 2007, he was seen performing at Jarreau. In the same year, he also participated in Mawazine Festival in Morocco. This was his first ever performance there. In 2009, Benson was declared as the Jazz Master by the National Endowment of the Arts. In jazz, this is the highest honor of the nation. Other than this, he got many other honors. He still actively performs and releases albums. During the current year, Benson has plans to make tours of different countries for the sale of promotion of his up coming releases.
