About Bjork
Björk is an Icelandic singer and songwriter. She was born on the 21st of November, 1965 and her full name is Björk Guðmundsdóttir. She is one of the most celebrated European female artists and occasionally, has acted and composed as well as produce music. Her acting won her 2000s Best Actress Award at Cannes Film Festival. Björk has been nominated Golden Globe Awards twice, Academy Awards once and for Grammy Awards, thirteen times. In VH1's rating of The 100 Greatest Women in Rock and Roll, she has been ranked at Number 36 while at MTV's 22 Greatest Voices in Music, she was ranked Number 8.
Owing to the uniqueness of her voice, precise arrangement and highly personalized lyrics and music, Björk was awarded Polar Music Prize by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. In addition, she has to her record, four MTV Music Video Awards, four BRIT Awards, three UK Music Video Awards and one MOJO Award. Björk's wide variety of musical genres includes classical, jazz, folk, electronic dance music and rock. She has released seven albums and provided soundtrack for two movies. Björk's first song to have been heard at large was I Love to Love by Tina Charles that her music teacher sent to the local radio when she was just 11 years old. She formed and worked with a number of bands but nothing really worked out for her until she formed the band, Sugarcubes. The band split in 1992 and Björk's endlessly successful solo career began.
Since then, she has worked with a number of recording companies and producers and launched herself as one of the finest musical talents ever to have come from the icy regions of Europe.
