About Beck
Beck is an American song writer, musician and multi-instrumentalist. With Beck being his stage name and the one that he is popularly known with, the musician was born as Bek David Campbell. However, when his parents, David Campbell and Bibbe Hansen, separated, he came to be known as Beck Hansen. Hansen was brought up in Los Angeles where he lived with his mother and brother. The city's greatly diversified musical scenario inspired him and as a result, Beck is now one of the most celebrated musicians in North America. He is known primarily for the large variety of genres that he has experimented with. Combining a wide variety of pop art music styles with ironic and unconventional lyrics and performing with a variety of post-modern styles, Beck has been awarded platinum disks four times, many awards from magazines and publications in the US and UK as well as a Grammy nomination.
The talented musician's orchestra includes everything from samples to live instrumentation to drum machines to sound effects that has made him to be termed by the critics as the most unique and creative musician in the genre of alternative rock for the 1990s and 2000s.it all started when in 1985, Beck dropped out of high school and moved to Germany. There he began his career as a street musician but later moved to New York City to involve himself with anti-folk, punk-stylized music. From there, Beck traveled to Los Angeles and while making his music, did a number of low paid jobs.
Beck released his first album in 1993 which gave his major breakthrough. Since then onwards, a sting of super hit singles, albums, award nominations, 'Best of' lists and groundbreaking performances are a part of Beck's career.
