About Andrea Bocelli

Andrea Bocelli was born 22 September 1958, He is an Italian tenor, multi-instrumentalist and operatic pop artist. Bocelli had problems with his sight from birth and later he was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma. At the age of 12, he completely lost his sight following an accident during a football game. He won his first song competition at the age of fourteen. In 1980 he finished his secondray school, then studied law at University of Pisa. As a part time job he performed evenings in paino bars. In 1987, he completed law and spent one year as a court-appointed lawyer and met his future wife, Enrica. They were married on 27 June 1992, and had two children. The couple separated in 2002., not yet divorced. Brocelli lives wit his girlfriend and manager, Veronica Berti. They met in 2002.

Brocelli got his break in 1992 , when , Italian rock star Zucchero held auditions for tenors to make a demo tape with of the song Miserere from his album of the same name, to send to Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti. Zucchero eventually persuaded Pavarotti to record the song with him and it became a hit throughout Europe.Bocelli then released his first studio single titled Il mare calmo della sera. In September he made his opera debut as Macduff in Verdi's Macbecth at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa. His second album entitled Brocelli was released in 1995. In 1996 his third album Viaggio Italiano was released. It is third studio n first classical album.Aria: The Opera Album is Andrea Bocelli's fourth studio album, released in 1998. His fifth studio album Sogno is a best-selling album released by him in 1999. Sacred Arias his sixth album was also released in 1999. Verdi is Andrea Bocelli's seventh studio album and fourth classical album, released in 2000. Cieli di Toscana (Tuscan Skies), �Sentimento, Andrea, Amore, Incanto, My Christmas were released in 2001,2002,2004,2006,2008,2009 respectively.

Bocelli has won 5 Classical BRITS. He received an ECHO music award for in 1997. He won a total of 3 ECHO Klassik awards. Total he won 20 awards of 40.
