About Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton is an American singer, song writer, multi-instrumentalist, philanthropist and an actress. She was born Dolly Rebecca Parton in 1946 and is immensely popular for her contribution to country music. She has released 25 Number 1 singles and 41 country albums that reached top 10. Hence Dolly Parton now boasts the title of being The Queen of Country Music and is often mentioned as being one of the most successful female country singers. Alongside Rebecca McEntire, Dolly Parton is the only country singer who has released Number 1 singles consecutively for four decades. In addition to her extra ordinary singing talents, she is also known for her gamy humor and voluptuous figure.

Dolly began performing as a child artist but soon after she graduated from high school, she moved to Nashville to peruse a career in music. She rose to popularity with her songwriting capabilities. In 1965, she signed to Goldband Records but could not make a mark as a good singer initially. However, when she entered the world of country music from bubblegum pop, her first two singles managed a position on the country music chart. Since then there was no looking back. Until 1975, Dolly was only a partially recognized singer and her singles were nothing more than minor chart hits.

From 1976 to 1986, Dolly produced top 10 singles consistently. Around the same time, she also began papering in movies to increase her visibility. She has 84 albums to her record with many of them having been certified gold and platinum disks. She has appeared in a number of films and has numerous awards to her name. Dolly Parton is still actively touring around and lending her unparalleled contributing to the music industry.
