About JLS
JLS is a British musical band with the name being an abbreviation for Jack the Lad Swing. The four piece band comprises of JB Gill, Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams and Marvin Humes. JLS began their musical career when they signed up with a production company namely, New Track City but gained popularity only after they stood runners up to Alexandra Burke in ITVs, The X Factor of 2008. Right after appearing on and making a name through The X Factor, JLS signed a contract with Epic Records. All throughout 2009, JLS produced singles that remained chart successes with the first two singles reaching Number 1 in the UK. These singles were Beat Again and Everybody in Love.
The same year, JLS released their debut album which was self-titled. Up till present times, they have sold more than one million copies in the UK alone. 2010s BRIT Awards brought the band awards for ‘British Single’ for Beat Again as well as an award for ‘British Breakthrough’. In the same year, JLS also won numerous awards at the MOBO Awards including Best Album and Best UK Act. Following this, JLS signed to an American record label, Jive Records and with it, they released their US debut single, The Club is Alive which became the lead single of their second album and remained their third UK Number 1.
The band has led three tours (JLS tour, Outta this World tour and Summer tour) which remained successful and highly applauded on. As of July2011, they are working on their third album which is to come out soon anytime.
