About Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan is one of the most renowned musicians that this world has. This American Cuban talent is not just a singer but also a songwriter and an actress. She is professionally known with a shortened name but her full name is Gloria Maria Milagrosa Fajardo Garcia de Estefan. Gloria Estefan has been entitled as 'Queen of Latin Pop' and has been included amongst the 100 best selling music artists for having sold over 100 million albums worldwide from which, 31.5 million have been sold in the United States only. Having been rated in more than one chart, Estefan is known to be the most successful crossover music performer in Latin music. She has 7 Grammy Awards to her record.

Gloria Estefan began as part of the musical band, Miami Sound Machine that released a number of albums, 12's and 45s. The band's first album was released in 1977 after which it changed the recoding company. The next album of the band came out in early 1980s, which took the band to a large popularity and many more audiences. This encouraged Miami Sound Machine to produce more recordings and throughout the 1980s, the band continued to release charting singles and albums. In 1988, Estefan became the highest paid member of the band and hence, Miami Sound Machine was renamed to Gloria Estefan and Mimi Sound Machine.

From 1989, Estefan began her solo career and released 11 albums that topped charts and won numerous awards. The Latin talent is still active and enjoying endless fame, success, a large fan following and awards and prizes.
