Lostprohets is a Welsh band that was formed in 1997 in the city of Pontypridd. It is stylized as 'lostprophets' and was founded by members of a punk band, Public Disturbance. The founding members of the band were Ian Watkins, Lee Glaze, Mike Lewis and Mike Chaplin. Originally a rock band, Lostprophets also participates in Cardiff music scene. As of June 2011, the band four albums to their record and have released two singles that reached Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart and one single that reached Number 1 in the Alternative Songs chart. They also have several Kerrang! Awards to their name with a lot of nominations.
The band began with none of the members having left Public Disturbance except Watkins who quitted it in 2008. Watkins handled the vocals, Lewis played the bass while Chaplin and Gaze handled the drums and losprophets began. Dj Stepzak was the recruited into the band but shortly after the release of the first album, Thefakesoundsofprogress in 2000, he decided to leave the band. DJ Stepzak was then replaced by Jamie Oliver. This followed much of touring and many successful performers by the band. They then released the second album, Start Something from Los Angeles. It spawned singles that were heavily aired on TV. When the third album, The New Transition came out, Ilan Rubins had been recruited into the band. It reached Number 1 on UK Albums Chart. The fourth album, The Betrayed reached Number 3 on the same chart.
