Goo Goo Dolls is a music band from America. The band began in 1986 and the style of music that they represent is alternative rock. Their origin is New York. There are three members in the band namely, John Rzeznik and Robby Takac. In addition to these two, there is a drummer Mike Malinin. Malinin has been with the band since late 1994. Some of the most beautiful work that they have produced includes Slide, Iris and A Boy Named Goo. These songs were released in 1995. During the year 1998, the song that gained popularity was Dizzy Up The Girl. This song was ranked in the top 10 songs. Then, in 2002, they released the album, Gutterflower. Two songs of this album, Big Machine and Here Is Gone were also a big hit.
Overall, fourteen of their songs have been able to make their place in top 10 songs. In United States, this band has sold almost 9 million copies of its albums. Originally, when they started, the name of the band was The Sex Maggots. However a promoter declined booking them. Then the name of the band was changed and kept Goo Goo Dolls. During the decade of 90s, the band got the fame and it touched the heights of popularity. Their album, A Boy Named Goo gained a huge popularity and was the first ever Metal Blade style of album that got the status of double platinum in the history. With the release of their sixth album, Dizzy Up The Girl, the listeners found a rather mature music than they had ever produced. They are still working on a new album and plan to release it soon.
