Michael Hucknall, known commonly with his stage name, Mick Hucknall, is a British singer and a songwriter. He is known for his red curly hair and a smooth and distinctive voice and a wide range of vocals. Mick Hucknall always had great interest in music and he was one of those lucky people who saw the Sex Pistols performing the Lesser Free Trade Hall of Manchester and later formed a band, named as Frantic Elevators. With this band, Hucknall released four singles including Holding Back The Years which he later re-did with the band, Simply Red.
Mick Hucknall was the most prominent member of the band, Simply Red being its lead vocalist and was extensively featured on its album covers and artworks. He is amongst the financers and founders of the record label, Blood and Fire and also manages the record label, simplyred.com. In 2008, Hucknall released his first solo album, the next year after he announced the disbanding of Simply Red in 2009. The title of his first album was Tribute to Bobby which was a tribute to a blues singer, Bobby Bland. In 2009, he appeared in Songbook and appeared for charity performances.
The same year, he joined the band, Faces replacing Rod Stewart and became its front man. All throughout 2010, he performed in various festivals as planned eelier and for 2001, they have a world tour in plan. Hucknall is a supporter of the Labor Party of UK and quite active in politics. He donated largely to the party and also to those affected by the Black Saturday Australian Bushfire. He is a fan of Manchester United, owns much property and claimed to have been a sex addict at one time.
