About Lou Reed
Lou Reed is an American musician whose genre of focus is rock. In addition, he is also songwriter and a photographer. His full name is Lewis Allan Reed but is more commonly known with his stage name. Reed is better known for being the main songwriter of the 1960s and 1970s band, The Velvet Underground which gained little mainstream success but became one of the most dominant bands of its time. From here, the songwriting capabilities of Lou Reed came to prominence as he touched subjects that had little or never been heard in Rock and Roll music. His lyrics were mainly about personal life, drugs and sexual experiences. In 1971, Reed left the band to pursue a solo career which has been controversial yet accepted and successful.
Reed's solo career had initially been deemed as a joke, laughing stock or a collection of experiments but by 1980s, he had been accepted by the music community as a respectable rock musician. Reed released eleven albums with The Velvet Underground up till 2001 and in 1972, released his first solo album. Since then, he has collected 25 solo albums to his name. Lou Reed has also appeared in a number of films and is still actively serving the music industry.
As of June 2011,s Lou Reed is being heard of releasing an album for Matellica, a heavy metal bands but the final date for its release is not confirmed. Now, having been finally accepted by the music community, Reed has been touring many parts of the world and has given highly successful performances.
