About Lucy Lawless

Lucy Lawless is an actress and a singer from New Zealand. Her full name is Lucille Frances Ryan and is best known with her stage name. Lawless is also known for having played the lead role in the world renowned AXN series, Xena; Warrior Princess which began in 1995 and ended in 2001. Many of her other television roles have also remained highly popular and successful. Suring her college, Lucy Lawless not only studies four languages including Italian, German and French but also studies opera. After having studies it for three years, she learnt that opera required a change in the lifestyle and she gave it up. It was then that Lawless moved towards jazz and violin.

In 1994, she began with her acting career appearing in Hercules and the Amazon Women. In 1996, she fractured her pelvis while riding a horse during the shooting of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 1996, Lawless was ranked amongst the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People Weekly and a year later, she accidently exposed her breasts in California concluding the US national anthem during a hockey event. Lucy Lawless is a heterosexual but has been inspired by homosexuality after having done a lesbian role in Xena: Warrior Princess. In 2004, she became a member of New Zealand Order of Merit during the Queen's birthday.

Lawless has released two albums, three DVDs and a single and has done 5 concerts up till June, 2011 in Los Angeles, Chicago, London and New York City. She has appeared in numerous films and television serials with the latter having marked most of her success.
