Kamelot is an American band from the city of Tampa in Florida. The band does symphonic metal music and was formed in 1991. Kamelot was founded by the members Richard Warner and Thomas Youngblood and in 1994, the band got signed to Noise Records. In 1995, they released their debut album, titled Eternity and in 1997, their second album, Dominion was released. After the release of the second album, the drummer, Richard Warner and Mark Vanderbilt, the lead vocalist were replaced by vocalist, Roy Khan and Casey Grillo, the drummer. With this line-up in place, the third album of the band Siege Perilous was released in 1998. Following the release of their third album, Kamelot embarked on a promotional tour and did shows all across Europe.

S the tour ended, the band returned to Tampa to begin working on their fourth album, The Fourth Legacy. In 2000, the band embarked on a tour titled, New Alliance Tour, which covered Spain, Austria, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Greece and Switzerland. During this tour, Kamelot had their first live album recorded. Since then, more albums began coming out from the studios of the band and to support each album, Kamelot toured extensively.

The year 2010 saw Roy Khan leaving the band owing to unknown reasons. According to many sources, Roy was facing depression and anxiety that made him ill and had the North American tour cancelled while other sources put forward religious reasons for his departure. As of June 2011, Kamelot is searching for a new singer and also planning for their new album that is to be released in 2012 or 2013.
