About Ladytron
Formed in 1999, the English band, Ladytron emerged from the city of Liverpool in England. The four piece comprises of the lead vocalist and synthesizer Helen Marnie, the vocalist and synthesizer Mira Aroyo, the synthesizer Reuben Wu and the electric guitarist and synthesizer Daniel Hunt. The name of the band has been taken from a song by the band Roxy Music, which was of the same name. According to the musician and record producer, Brian Eno, Ladytron is 'the best of English pop music'. Mainly being an electronic pop band,s ladytron mixes up various subgenres of this music such as synthpop and electro pop with shoegazing and New Wave and have been emphasizing on fusing experimental sounds with pop music.
Owing to this blend and style of music, Ladytron were initially labeled as 'electroclash' but they condemned being labeled as one and stated in many interviews that they were not a part of that scene. A few of the songs of this band, sung by Mira Aroyo, are in Bulgarian language. It was in early 1990s that Wu and Hunt formed the band, Ladytron and produced a single, He Took Her To The Movie, which remained NME Single of the Week. Later on, they met Marnie and Aroyo who joined the band and in 1999, the current line-up of the band came into being.
Up till 2001, Ladytron has released five studio albums and a number of singles that have been featured in video games and movies. The band has had an extensive itinerary when it comes to their torus and is enjoying commercial success and applaud from their fan base.
