About Mindless Self Indulgence

Mindless Self Indulgence is an American band from New York that was formed in 1997 and focuses on a number of genres including industrial, punk rock, techno, electronic and alternative rock. The band is often mentioned with an abbreviation, MSI and owing to its undecided genre and a mixed style of singing, once coined a name for their music which was 'Industrial Jungle Pussy Punk'. Later, they came out denouncing it. The name of the band comes from the solo album of its front man, Jimmy Urine that he released in 1990s. Later on, Steve (guitarist), Kitty (drummer) and Vanessa Y.T. (bassist) came together with Urine to form Mindless Self Indulgence. Vanessa Y.T. was later replaced by LynZ.

The group has a committed fan base who it has entertained by opening up for numerous other bands such as Rammstein, Korn, Linkin Park, Insane Clown Posse, Sum 41 and System of a Down. Man notable bands have opened up for Mindless Self Indulgence too. The band has released five studio albums with the first one, the self-titled album, in 1995. Their second album, Tight was released in 1999 whoch was re-released as, Tighter in 2011 with bonus tracks. Mindless Self Indulgence released Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy, You'll Rebel To Anything and If in 2000, 2005 and 2008 respectively.

The band has kept a low profile compared to many other bands but is enjoying whatever the fan base it has maintained. They indulge in various activities alongside touring such as releasing a comic, Adventures into Mindless Self Indulgence which was about the band's life and are enjoying their musical career and applaud.
