About Clannad
Clannad is one of the most popular Irish musical groups. The band is famous to have sung folks songs, Irish, New age, Smooth Jazz, Gregorian chant, Celtic and folk rock. Clannad has been giving memorable performances in various languages that include English, Mohican, Gaidhlig, Latin and in their native language that is Irish. In addition to this, the band has achieved various kinds of awards for producing some of the most melodious numbers. Clannad basically gained popularity in 1970 with the folk songs. They became popular first in Ireland and then largely in mainland Europe.
Gradually, the group proved itself in other areas of music as well that include pop music and many other genres. The group made tours, gave performance in various parts of the world and has grabbed a huge amount of fans all over the world. This band gave a super hit album with the name of Best New Age Album. In the recognition of this album, the band got a Grammy Award in 1999. This album earned the revenue of over 15 million which was a record sale. A great credit goes to this band for introducing the traditional music of Ireland and the Irish language on the stage around the world. This band made ways for many other Irish artists to start their career as singers.
After a gap of ten years, this band reunited and made public appearance in 2007 in Celtic Connections Festival. After that the band is united once again and has been making appearances from time to time. One of the team members of Clannad has announced that they are to release a new album soon.
