Buetones is an indie rock band that formed in London in 1993. It comprises of five members namely Mark Morriss, Scott Morriss, Eds Chesters and Adam Devlin. From 1993 up till 1998, the band worked as a foursome but then, in 1998, a fifth member, Richard Payne joined the group who left in 2002. Throughout their career, the band has released six studio albums, five compilation albums, two live albums, three live EPs and twenty singles, fourteen of which were ranked amongst the top 40 ones. In addition, they have also had four video/DVD releases and taken three of their albums to the top 10in UK.
Initially, the band was named The Bottlegarden but then, the name was changed to The Bluetones. The Bluetones has been entitled as ‘Britpop survivors’ because although their commercial success diminished with the end of the Britpop movement and most popular music bands had disbanded, The Bluetones continued to work and record new singles and albums. The line up of the band keeps Mark Morriss to take care of the vocals and Scott Morriss to handle the bass guitar. Eds Chesters handles the drum while Adam Devlin is the guitarist. The short time arrival of Richard Payne held him as a keyboardist and a guitarist.
He Bluetones released their last album in the May of 2010 and named it ‘A New Athens’. They now plan to disband after holding a goodbye tour in September, 2011. The band has not just enjoyed a large fan following and high commercial success but also successful international and domestic tours.
