About Buddy Guy
Having been recognized as the pioneer of the genre of Chicago blues, Buddy Guy is a renowned blues singer and a guitarist. He has not only received worth mentioning critical acclaim but has also been a role model for many musicians of his time. Buddy Guy was born in Lettsworth, Louisiana and his original name is George Buddy Guy. Guy was ranked by the Rolling Stone magazine on number 30 amongst 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Alongside his musical talents Buddy Guy is widely known for his live acts that include playing guitar with drumsticks. Beginning in 1953, the musician is still active, enjoying worldwide fame and recognition.
Although Guy's style of music is often defined as Chicago blues, critics and exerts claim that it is just different and unique. The way he creates a variation in music from singing the deepest and most traditional blues to avant rock to jazz to soul, the talent remains unparalleled. Buddy Guy has released 67 albums throughout his career and has given innumerable performances in different places. He has held extremely successful concerts and is still largely invited to wow the audiences at festivals and musical nights. Buddy Guy has won numerous awards, titles and top positions in different categories but some of his worth mentioning achievements are six Grammy Awards, a National Medal of Arts, The Century Award from the Billboard magazine and inclusion into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. He is also the musician who has received the most W. C. Handy Awards, numbering 23 in this case.
