About David Bowie

David Robert Jones, known more commonly with his stage name, David Bowie, is an English record producer as well as an arranger. He is also an actor. Bowie is renowned not only for his unique voice but also for his contribution to the world of pop music for over five decades. He has been described by man as an innovator. Bowie rose to prominence in 1969 when his super hit song, Space Oddity was released. This song held a position of Number 5 in UK Singles Chart. After three years of experimentation, David Bowie re-emerged in 1972 with the single, Starman as well as the album titled, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. The two were such great hits that they took Bowie's popularity to an even larger scale. However it was not until the release of single, Fame that he Goths major breakthrough in the States.

All throughout the 1970s and 1980s, David Bowie enjoyed watching his albums and singles peaking on charts and some of them even reaching Number 1. In the later decades of 1990s and 2000s, David Bowie continued his exploration with music and experimentations with different genres and came up with adult contemporary, blue-eyed soul, jungle and industrial. Bowie's last album came out in 2003 that was titled as Reality. It was followed by a 'Reality' tour that was held in 2003 and 2004.

Throughout his career, David Bowie has been bestowed with; 9 platinum, 11 gold and 8 silver certifications. Inside the United States, she won 7 gold and 5 platinum certifications.
