About Michael McDonald
Michael McDonald is an American singer and a songwriter who holds five Grammys to his record. McDonald is often referred to as the 'blue-eyed soul' singer and renowned for his soulful and husky baritone voice. His most famous works have been with the band, Doobie Brothers and as backing vocalist for the band, Steely Dan. However, many of his solo works have also been immensely famous. To begin the musical career with, Michal McDonald played with numerous bands such as Jerry Jay, Mike, the Share tons, he Majestics, The Guild, Del Rays and the Reeb-Toors while at high school.
It was while McDonald was playing with a band, Blue that he was discovered and moved to Los Angeles. There he joined the band Steely Dan and this became his first project to bring him to wide scale attention. In 1975, he was recruited by Doobie Brothers as their lead singer. Unfortunately, he fell ill during their national tour but due to the success he had given them, they planned to continue with him. In 1982, McDonald released his first solo album which was a compilation of his earlier songs. It became immensely popular.
This encouraged him to move further without banding with anyone and he brought eight studio albums to his record along with eight compilations and numerous singles. Michael McDonald has numerous awards and still actively participates in musical events and shows. He still often unties with bands to provide them with backing vocals or any other of his talents and is largely invited at various festivals to perform.
