Based in the city of Brighton, British Sea Power is an English indie rock band that formed in 2000. The band began by performing at various clubs and even holding their own club night. The first album of the band, The Decline of British Sea Power brought it wide critical acclaim and much of commercial success. It followed a successful tour around the UK and took one of their singles, Carrion, amongst the top 40. The second album released by the band as titled, Open Season which again, enjoyed high critical acclaim and a lot better production and sound. Not only this album was enlisted amongst the top 13 of the UK but also its single, It Ended on an Oily Stage went up to number 18 in UK's singles chart.
The year 2007 has marked an extensive touring itinerary for the band during which they not only toured eastern coast of the States but also a lot of unusual locations within the UK such as holding concerts at Tall Hill Inn, across River Mersey and other such places. This unusual selection of concert venues is one of the major reasons that British Sea Power is known for. In 2008, the band released their third album, Do You Like Rock Music? And in 2009, they released Man of Aran. Following these albums, the band again held concerts at various places and rocked the stages of numerous festivals.
The last album to have been released by British Sea Power was Valhalla Dancehall that peaked number 22 in the UK album charts. The band is expected to perform at 2011's Get Loaded in the Park, Latitude Festival and many other festivals.
