Born Joseph Patrick Longthorne, Joe Longhtorne is a British Romani singer. He has the honor of performing in several Royal Variety Performances, an annual musical gala attended by members of the royal family. He was born in a family, highly active in showbiz and hence, everything that goes on screen was nothing new to him. At the age of six, Joe Longthorne appeared in a talent show and won a toy car. When he turned 14, Longthorne appeared in a television series named, Junior Showtime. He remained a part of this program until the age of 16. This was his childhood association with media.

At a later point in life, he turned professional and began working with working men's clubs. However, it was not until 1981 that Longthorne appeared in talent hunt show, Search for a Star and was launched as a professional singer. His fame led him to make regular performances at the popular London restaurant, Talk of the Town and theater, London Palladium. The next year brought him an award for the most promising artiste from the Variety Club; the children's charity. In 1985, he performed at Dury Lane Theater in Chicago and remained in news for appearing on TV in Live from The Palladium and the show, Des O'Connor Tonight. He also has the honor of performing at Royal Albert Hall and Sydney Opera House.

Joe Longthorn's albums, The Joe Longthorne Christmas Album, The Joe Longthorne Songbook and Especially for You; all were platinum certified. The singer was diagnosed with lymphoma which changed into leukemia as his financial conditions got bad. He received treatment and came back to the scene. In 2007, Variety Club gave him the lifetime achievement award. As of June 2011, Joe Longthorne is residing in Blackpool with his last appearence being in 2009.
