About Gogol Bordello

Formed in Manhattan in 1999, Gogol Bordello is a gypsy punk band that has been known for its stage performances and consistent touring. Gogol Bordello has created their style of performing that looks more theatrical than typically musical and this is what has caused the band to receive immense popularity. Although its genre is primarily gypsy punk, Gogol Bordello has also experimented with other genres including violin and accordion at large and in some of their albums, even used saxophone. These instruments have been mixed up with a dub and punk touch. Gogol Bordello's members have appeared in a number of films and have also provided sound tracks for many.

After releasing its first single in 1999, the band has released five albums along with one EP. In 2005, the band signed with a punk record label, SideOneDumy Records. With this label, the band released its album, Transcontinental Hustle that is ranked as one of their major successes of Gogol Bordello and managed to make its mark on various charts in UK, Canada and the USA. Before this, Super Taranta! was the only album released by the band that charted anywhere in the world. However, other albums of Gogol Bordello, such as Live from Axis Mundi, East Infection, Voi-La Intruder, Gypsy Dogs: Underdog World Strike and Multi Contra Culti vs. Irony also gained much popularity.

As mentioned above, the band has toured extensive all across the US and Europe and has given performances at many festivals. It has also appeared in numerous TV shows and has supported Bands on their tours. Gogol Bordello continues to tour around and entertain the crowds with their unique theatrical performances.
