Leslie Feist is a Canadian singer and a songwriter, professionally known simply as Fesit. She is enjoying a very successful solo musical career and is also a part of the renowned indie rock band, Broken Social Scene. Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, she began her musical career from Calgary, Alberta and is one of the most renowned musicians the country has ever produced. In the Juno Awards of 2008, she won awards for Songwriter of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Pop Album of the Year. Feist began her musical career in 1991 with a band that gained recognition after winning a local battle of the bands. It was called Placebo (not to be confused with the English band, Placebo).
Later on, she began playing bass for the band, hHead. She also worked back stages of the band, Peaches. Fesit's first solo album, Monarch(Lay Your Jewelled Head Down) was released in 1999. In 2001, she joined with old friends to form Broken Social Scene. She then came up with her second album, Let It Die that won her the Juno Awards for Best Alternative Rock Album and Best New Artist. Subsequently, she released albums, Reminder and 1234 that spawned hit singles and gained positions on various charts.
Feist is now enjoying international recognition, largely contributing towards charity and has also appeared in a few films. She continues to serve the music industry with her extra ordinary talents and is touring around performing in various festivals and promotional concerts.
