Previously known as Hyde Park Calling, Hard Rock Calling is a music festival held annually at Hyde Park, London. The first festival took place 2006 on the 1st and 2nd of July that was Saturday and Sunday respectively. It is organized by Hard Rock Cafe together with Live Nation and the event celebrates rock music. Since its first time, Hard Rock Calling has invited many known performers and singers to show their talents on stage. Some of the worth mentioning names here include Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Neil Young and Aerosmith. The 2006 festival, which was the inaugural festival, opened up with Roger Waters rocking one of the two stages along with his band in an entirely Pink Floyd style on Saturday. The Sunday called up The Who to rock the audiences.
This festival went a peaceful one because the attendees were accommodated in external addresses unlike other music festivals where they camp around the venue. This event brought many young bands to limelight and paved ways for them to enter the mainstream music scene. The show of 2007 saw the fabulous performances of bands like Aerosmith and musicians Peter Gabriel. However, it went a bit imbalanced as all the commercially successful bands showed up on Sunday and the rest on Saturday.
In 2009, Hard Rock Calling grew to a three-day event and began on a Friday to end on Sunday. 2010's event had a Main Stage, Pepsi Max Stage and a Band Stand and more singers than ever before. Year by year, the event is growing and as of now and is sure to go with the same pace in future, promoting rock music and entertaining its fans.
