About Beverley Knight

Born in the English city of Wolverhampton in 1973, Beverley Knight is a song writer and a record producer in addition to being a singer. Her genres are R&B and soul and her inspirations include Aretha Franklin and Sam Cooke. She released her first album in 1995 and since then, has six studio albums to her name. By hosting radio shows and giving appearances on TV, Knight idiosyncratic validated her status as a mainstream musician. This image was enhanced by her tour of UK that she did with a UK based boy band, Take That. She has been highly celebrated due to her extensive charity work and association with numerous charity organizations. Her social work ranges from anti-aids movements to those for safe motherhood and raising awareness for poverty and its solutions.

Impressed by her musical talents and large collaboration to the society, Beverley Knights has performed at 10 Downing Street at the invitation of Sarah Brown, the wife of the former British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown. This performance was done to support the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood. She has also been awarded MBE (Member of the Order of British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II. As for her musical genius, Beverley Knight has been honorably awarded 'Doctor of Music' by the University of Wolverhampton. In 2004, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in London at Urban Music Awards.

Today, Knight is enjoying a record of super hit and internationally acclaimed six studio albums with numerous awards including MOBO Awards, BRIT Awards, Mercury Music Prize, Black Music Awards and Capital F.M. Awards.
