About Take That
Take That is a UK based musical boy band comprising of five members. It was created out of inspiration from the American, Boston based band, New Kids on the Block and the genius of a Manchester based band manager, Nigel Martin-Smith. It was in 1989 that Martin-Smith felt the need of a boy band in UK which could be deemed up to the standard of New Kids on the Block. He began holding auditions all over the United Kingdom and ended up with Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Mark Owen forming a band named Take That and that is where the journey began.
The first TV appearance of Take That was in 1990 when they performed two unreleased singles, which received wide acclaim. Thereafter, more singles came out which made their spaces amongst the top 10 in UK charts. In 1991, Take That’s first album, 'Take That and Party', a compilation of the hit singles, was released. Sine then, the band enjoyed albums peaking charts in the UK and the singles being number 1 hits. By 1994, Take That members had become internationally recognized not just as musicians but also as TV stars. Until 1995, the band had photo shoots for various merchandise, magazine covers, appeared on many TV shows and won numerous awards including BRIT Awards and MTV Europe Awards. They also gave unforgettable performances on many awards shows. In 1996, the band split up after releasing three albums, only to rejoin in 2006 and lead a tour around UK. Robbie Williams, however, joined the band in 2010.
Take That released their fourth, fifth and sixth albums in 2006, 2008 and 2010 respectively and sold millions of copies worldwide. Once again, Take That’s music is popular and is being heard everywhere.
