A Ha Biography

a-ha is a band from Norway who was propelled to fame in the 1980s, but have continued to have success throughout the 1990s and 2000s.

a-ha’s debut album and single in 1985 Hunting High and Low peaked at number fifteen on the Billboard charts, sky rocketing them to instant stardom. On the Hunting High and Low album was the legendary track Take on Me that soon became an international number-one single and earned the band a Grammy Award nomination as Best New Artist. Hunting High and Low went on to be one of the best-selling albums of 1986. In 1994, a-ha went on a hiatus and sold 20 million albums worldwide. After a performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in 1998, a-ha returned to the studio and recorded 2000s Minor Earth Major Sky. A-ha hit the road with a Minor Earth Major Sky tour. In 2002 a-ha released their seventh studio album Lifelines. Analogue is a-ha’s newest and most successful studio album in the UK since East of the Sun, West of the Moon. Analogue has been certified silver.

Fans had been fantasizing for years that a single event with Morten Harket, Magne F and Savoy on stage together as solo artists would manifest. The dream became a reality. a-ha also announced three additional concerts for the Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo, Norway on May 20th, 21st and 22nd. All thee shows were sold out in advance. Morten, Magne and Savoy gave a special invitation-only concert on May 19, also at Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo. The venue was packed with the band members' family, friends and colleagues for this 'dress rehearsal'.

This year at the Glastonbury Festival band The Feeling paid tribute to a-ha and performed their hit “Take On Me” to the crowd who sang along enthusiastically and broke out into a thunder of applause.
