Adele Biography

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, known professionally as Adele, was born in the UK and is a fresh and talented voice within the soul and jazz scene. Adele was the first recipient of the Brit Awards Critics' Choice, an award given to artists who had not yet released an album. Adele has been hailed by the British press as the new Amy Winehouse. Adele’s single ‘Chasing Pavements’ and her album ‘19’ have been met with great critical and commercial acclaim. Later this year Adele is heading off on a sell-out UK tour.

Before Adele had released any of her music – and at barely 19 – the soul and jazz singer had already appeared with Jools Holland and worked with Jim Abiss, Eg White and Mark Ronson. Adele was signed to XL Recordings and also sang back-up with Jack Penate, Raul Midon, Amos Lee and Devendra Banhart.

Adeles rise from Croydons BRIT School graduate to beating out Duffy the Brit Awards Critics Choice in the has astounded many. Unlike Leona Lewis who had the marketing muscle of Simon Cowell and national exposure on The X Factor, Adele Adkins, has come from nowhere. Adele has been playing in modest venues in London over the last year.
